Invitation au voyage

‚Äč

My representative choice of using an object, the bicycle, as a constant in this series of paintings is to capture a mood, and an invitation to get lost in an idealized location. By this journey, both in time and in space, I meant to convey a sense of heightened freedom that we are missing in many cities of the world and particularly in Cairo. The interconnection between the woman and the bicycle suggests the will of the character to get back in contact with nature. What’s more, the presence of the feminine figure in all of my paintings enables us to realize that the romantic invitation is an outlet of a dream-state seen as a journey.   Perhaps this conveys the sense of freedom mentioned above, as well as the concept of female emancipation in a vibrant color palette and my unusual, signature strokes of the trowel.
